Jeep transmission work covers a wide range of platforms — 42RLE, NAG1, ZF 8HP, and the various CVT units in smaller Jeeps — and each one has consumable and repair parts that show up frequently enough that you should be stocking them rather than ordering them per job. The shops that keep the right soft parts on the shelf finish Jeep jobs faster, avoid the parts delay that kills flat-rate efficiency, and project a level of expertise that builds customer trust. For the 42RLE, which is the highest-volume Jeep automatic in terms of sheer units on the road, the parts to stock are the filter and pan gasket kit, the solenoid body filter screen (separate from the main filter), and the 2-4 band servo seal kit. The band servo seals are a regular wear item on the 42RLE that is often missed on rebuilds and frequently causes a comeback. They cost almost nothing and take five minutes to replace. Stock them. The solenoid body filter screens are equally cheap and equally overlooked. Add both to every 42RLE rebuild as standard practice.
