Used Unit — Cheapest, But Buy Smart

Reman — The Sweet Spot for Most Owners

Is It Worth Replacing?
Run the math: if the Rogue is otherwise sound (good engine, clean body, tires and brakes with life left), a reman CVT for $3,400–$4,800 is almost always cheaper than the down payment plus taxes on a replacement vehicle. If the Rogue has 180,000+ miles, rust, or other looming repairs, a used unit or moving on may make more sense. How long does a Nissan Rogue CVT last?
Many reach 120,000–150,000 miles, but failures in the 80,000–110,000 range are common, especially on 2014–2018 units run hot or never serviced. Regular fluid changes and an auxiliary cooler for hot climates or hilly driving meaningfully extend life.
Can a Rogue CVT be rebuilt instead of replaced?
CVTs are far harder to rebuild than a conventional automatic and fewer shops do it well. The belt-and-pulley variator is the expensive wear item. In practice, most owners replace with a reman or used unit rather than a one-off rebuild.
Will changing the CVT fluid fix the shudder?
