The 68RFE valve body is one of the more problematic assemblies in the heavy-duty truck segment. Chrysler revised the solenoid pack design at least four times between 2007 and 2018, which tells you they knew the original wasn't sufficient. Here's where the failures concentrate and what the correct repair requires. Solenoid Pack: The 68RFE solenoid pack is a single assembly containing all shift and pressure control solenoids. It's not serviceable at the individual solenoid level — you replace the pack as a unit. The failure mode is typically one of two things: internal O-ring degradation causing cross-leakage between circuits (you'll see erratic pressure readings and multiple DTCs simultaneously), or a failed pressure control solenoid causing fixed-pressure operation in one or more circuits. When a solenoid pack starts setting P0750–P0760 range codes in combination, replace the pack — do not attempt to isolate individual solenoids. A quality updated pack (Sonnax or updated OEM) runs $280–$380 and is the correct specification for all 68RFE applications regardless of original build date.
