Variable displacement pump that supplies hydraulic pressure to the entire 6L80 valve body.

Fitment

2006-2017 GM trucks and SUVs with 6L80 or 6L90.

Common failure symptoms

Low line pressure across all gears, slipping, transmission overheating, premature clutch wear

Electrical specs

Replace with OE or quality reman during any major rebuild — failed pumps cause cascading damage.

Run a resistance check before condemning the solenoid. Bad wiring, corroded harness pins, or a failing PCM driver can cause identical symptoms.

Replacement procedure

Transmission must be out of vehicle for pump replacement
Remove torque converter
Remove pump retaining bolts (front of transmission)
Pull pump assembly straight forward
Replace pump bushing and seal with new unit
Lubricate new pump with assembly lube
Torque pump bolts to 18 ft-lbs in cross pattern
Verify pump turns smoothly by hand before reinstalling converter
