Electrical specs

Run a resistance check before condemning the solenoid. Bad wiring, corroded harness pins, or a failing PCM driver can cause the same symptoms as a bad solenoid. Eliminate cheap causes first.

Replacement procedure

1. Drop pan and filter
2. Remove valve body (see 1-2-3-4 install for procedure)
3. EPC solenoid sits at the front of the valve body
4. Disconnect harness pin
5. Remove retaining bracket
6. Pull straight out
7. Lubricate O-rings with fresh ATF
8. Torque to 89 in-lbs
9. The EPC is the FIRST solenoid to replace on a 6L80 rebuild. Period.

Estimated time: 1 hour for someone who has done this before, 2-3 hours for first-timers. Tools needed: 8mm and 10mm sockets, snap-ring pliers (if removing the valve body), torque wrench, drain pan, fresh ATF.
