What it does

Heavy-duty pressure control solenoid for the 6L90 platform. Higher current rating than 6L80 EPC.

Fitment

2007-2018 GM Silverado 2500/3500, Sierra HD, Suburban 2500 with 6L90 heavy-duty six-speed.

Common failure symptoms

P0796, harsh shifts under tow, line pressure fault, transmission running hot when towing

Electrical / install specs

Variable bleed solenoid.
PWM controlled by TCM.
Replace at every rebuild — never reuse on a tow rig.

Run a resistance check before condemning. Bad wiring, corroded harness pins, or a failing PCM driver can cause identical symptoms.

Replacement procedure

Drop pan and filter
Remove valve body
EPC sits at front of valve body
Disconnect harness pin
Remove retaining bracket
Lubricate O-rings with Dexron VI
Torque to 89 in-lbs
6L90 takes more fluid than 6L80 — refill 11-13 quarts on pan drop
