What it does

Pressure switch that signals PCM when TCC apply pressure is achieved. Common 4T65E failure point.

Fitment

1997-2010 GM front-wheel-drive (Buick LeSabre, Pontiac Bonneville, Olds Aurora, Chevy Impala, Buick Lacrosse) with 4T65E.

Common failure symptoms

P0742, no TCC lockup, harsh 3-4 shift, transmission overheating on highway

Electrical / install specs

Normally-open switch.
Closes at ~50 psi.
Resistance check should show open at rest, closed under pressure.

Run a resistance check before condemning. Bad wiring, corroded harness pins, or a failing PCM driver can cause identical symptoms.

Replacement procedure

  1. Drop pan and filter
  2. Locate TCC pressure switch on valve body
  3. Disconnect harness clip
  4. Remove switch (3/4 inch socket)
  5. Lubricate new switch threads with assembly lube
  6. Torque to 12 ft-lbs
  7. Refill with Dexron VI
