Common failure symptoms

P0868, P0840, low line pressure, no overdrive lockup, transmission slipping under tow load

Electrical specs

Pulse-width modulated solenoid.
Resistance 3-5 ohms.
Replace whenever you touch the valve body.

Run a resistance check before condemning the solenoid. Bad wiring, corroded harness pins, or a failing PCM driver can cause identical symptoms.

Replacement procedure

Drop the 68RFE pan (HEAVY — get a transmission jack and a helper)
Remove filter and gasket
Remove valve body retaining bolts
Lower valve body — disconnect internal harness
Pressure solenoid sits on the lower valve body channel plate
Replace as part of full solenoid pack rebuild — never replace just one
Torque valve body to spec
Refill with ATF+4
