What it does

Sonnax-developed sleeve that restores the mechatronic valve body bore. The most common 8HP fix in independent shops.

Fitment

2009-present BMW, Audi, Range Rover, Chrysler 300, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ram 1500 with ZF 8HP70/8HP75.

Common failure symptoms

Harsh shifts, slipping, P0729, P0731, lockup engagement failures, valve body bore wear (Sonnax-fixable)

Electrical / install specs

Sonnax sleeve install requires reaming the bore.
Specialized tooling needed.

Run a resistance check before condemning. Bad wiring, corroded harness pins, or a failing PCM driver can cause identical symptoms.

Replacement procedure

Drop pan and filter
Remove mechatronic unit (heavy and expensive — do not drop)
Disassemble valve body
Ream the worn bore to Sonnax spec
Install Sonnax sleeve
Reassemble with new O-rings and seals
Reinstall mechatronic
