Remanufactured 30-spline lockup converter with a raised 2200-2500 RPM stall for GM 4L60E/4L65E behind 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L and 5.7L LS engines.
This is a remanufactured high-stall torque converter for the LS-based GM 4L60E and 4L65E four-speed automatics. It is a 300mm unit with a 30-spline turbine hub and a lockup (TCC) clutch, built to a 2200-2500 RPM stall instead of the stock 1400-1600 range. The higher stall lets the engine come up onto its torque before the converter fully couples, which wakes up a cammed or heads/cam LS in a truck or swap that feels lazy off idle with a stock converter.
It fits most rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet and GM applications running the 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L and 5.7L LS1 behind a 4L60E or 4L65E. It interchanges with GM converter codes TMBX, TMAX and TWBX, so match the code stamped on the unit coming out of your transmission before ordering. This is the later LS-based converter and will not fit the early 700R4 or pre-LS 4L60E; the stub, pilot and overall depth differ, and a mismatched depth is the number-one reason a converter ships back as a no-fit.
On the bench this drops in during a rebuild or as an upgrade over a tired stock converter. Pre-fill it with a quart of ATF, then seat it fully onto the pump. You should feel it drop and rotate through two distinct steps as the hub engages the pump drive and the turbine and stator splines line up. If it sits proud it is not seated, and torquing the bell housing against an unseated converter will pull the front pump apart. Confirm the converter bolt holes line up with your flexplate before final assembly.
A raised stall runs a little more heat, so if you are towing or running this hard, an auxiliary cooler is cheap insurance against cooking the fluid. Warranty is one year from the remanufacturer.
