Dana 60/61 Rear Differential Master Overhaul Kit (ZK D60-R)

This is the USA Standard Gear master overhaul kit, part number ZK D60-R, for setting up a rear Dana 60 or Dana 61 differential. The Dana 60 rear is the full-float axle under 3/4- and 1-ton trucks, Ford F-250 and F-350, Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500, and Chevy and GMC one-tons, and this is the kit you open when you install a new ring and pinion, swap a carrier or locker, or tear the third member down to chase a howl or a spun bearing.

It is a master (install) kit, which is the important distinction from a plain bearing kit: along with the Koyo carrier bearings and races and the pinion bearings and races, you get the complete shim pack needed to set pinion depth and dial in carrier bearing preload and backlash from scratch. Also in the box are a new pinion seal, the ring gear bolts, the pinion nut, the crush sleeve where the application uses one, and the oil baffles and slingers where applicable. That is everything that touches the bearings, so you are not reusing tired parts on a fresh gear set.

Set it up right and it stays quiet: shim the pinion to the depth marked on the gear, run backlash in the 0.008 to 0.010 inch range, and load the carrier bearings to spec, then check your pattern before the cover goes on. Note this kit does not include the ring and pinion gears themselves or a carrier; pair it with your gear set or reuse your gears if the pattern is good.
