4L60E Banner Rebuild Kit with Friction Clutch Pack 2004-Up

This is the standard banner kit for a 2004-and-up GM 4L60E teardown. It covers the soft parts end to end - the complete seal kit, all sealing rings and O-rings, metal-clad seals, paper and rubber gaskets, lip seals, the pan gasket, and the pump gasket - plus the full friction clutch pack in high-energy material. Manufacturer part number T74004GA.

The important detail is the pump seal. GM switched the 4L60E front pump seal to the wedge-type design on 2004-and-later cases, and the earlier square-cut style will not seal correctly in that bore. This kit ships the wedge-type seal, so it is the right kit for 2004-up units and the wrong one for a 1993-2003 case. Check the pump body before you order: if you are working on an earlier unit, use the 1993-2003 banner kit instead.

On the bench this is what you lay out after the unit is stripped and the hard parts are inspected. Soak the frictions in ATF before assembly, replace every lip seal in the drums while they are apart, and set the pump gasket and wedge seal last when the pump halves go back together. Banner means soft parts only - it does not include steels, pistons, bushings, or a filter, so order those separately if your teardown shows heat-glazed steels or a scored 3-4 pack.
