4L60E 4L65E Master Rebuild Kit GM Trucks 1993-2003

This is the master overhaul kit for the GM 4L60E, the electronically controlled 4-speed automatic that sits behind the small block in 1993-2003 Chevrolet and GMC trucks, vans and SUVs: Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, Blazer, Astro, Safari, Express, S10 and the Camaro and Firebird. It also covers the heavier 4L65E used behind the 6.0L. When one of these units flares on the 1-2 shift, slips in third, loses reverse or codes for clutch slip, the frictions and steels are worn or burnt and the whole clutch pack side of the transmission needs to come apart.

The kit carries the full set of high-energy friction plates and matching steel plates for the forward, direct, overrun, 3-4 and reverse-input clutch packs, plus the overhaul gasket and seal set, the molded rubber pistons and lip seals, the metal-clad case and pump seals, the 2-4 band, the filter and the O-rings needed to close the case back up. The high-energy frictions hold more line pressure and heat than stock paper, which is what these units want in a truck that tows.

This fits 1993 through 2003 4L60E and 4L65E units. Because GM changed the input drum, pump and 3-4 clutch count across the run, verify your production year and clutch counts against the kit before you start the build, and reuse your original clutch count. It does not include hard parts, the valve body, the pump or a torque converter; inspect the drum, sun shell and bushings on teardown and replace what measures out of spec.
