The 4R70W and its later 4R75W, 4R70E, and 4R75E variants are the Ford four-speed RWD automatic bolted behind the 4.6L and 5.4L modular V8s. You will find it in 2004-up F-150, E-Series vans, Expedition, Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, and Mustang. This is a 2004-up banner kit, cut for the later-design units, not the early 1993-2003 wide-ratio boxes, so match your year before ordering.
A banner kit is what you pull off the shelf when a unit comes in slipping, flaring on the 2-3 shift, or leaking at the pan and pump. It carries the Raybestos friction module, part RHT96-108, which is the full set of clutch frictions for the direct, forward, intermediate, overdrive, and reverse packs, plus a complete overhaul set: pan gasket, bushings-area seals, o-rings, lip seals, Teflon and rubber sealing rings, check balls, and the vital small parts that get chewed up on teardown. It does not include steel plates, a filter, a torque converter, or hard parts, so plan to reuse or source those separately.
On the bench you soak the new frictions in ATF, air-check each clutch pack, set the clearances, and reseal the pump and case with the supplied gaskets and rings before the unit goes back together.
