Complete 68RFE master rebuild kit with the friction module, steel module and overhaul gasket set for 2007-up Dodge Ram 2500/3500 6.7L Cummins.
The 68RFE is the six-speed automatic Dodge bolted behind the 6.7L Cummins in the 2007-and-up Ram 2500 and 3500. It is a heavier evolution of the 545RFE, and behind a diesel making far more torque than the unit was designed around, the clutches are what give up first: slipping in the overdrive and direct clutches, a soft or flaring 1-2, converter-clutch shudder, and burnt fluid on the dipstick are all the same story. Once the pan is dropped and the frictions are glazed, the transmission is coming all the way apart and every wear item wants to go back new.
This is a full master kit, not a reseal. It includes the complete 68RFE friction module (all the clutch plates), the matching steel module (the reaction steels the frictions run against), and a precision overhaul gasket and seal kit: pan and case gaskets, metal-clad and lip seals, sealing rings, O-rings, and the rubber soft parts that harden and leak with heat and miles. Frictions and steels replaced together is what separates a rebuild that holds under load from one that comes back slipping.
Fitment is the 2007-up Ram 2500/3500 68RFE behind the 6.7L Cummins. The 68RFE shares a family with the 545RFE and 66RFE but the clutch counts and hard parts are not interchangeable across all years, so match your year, make, model and engine before you order, and confirm your clutch pack counts against the unit on the bench. Lay the kit out on a clean bench, work off a 68RFE exploded view or rebuild manual, and you assemble the unit with a known friction and steel set rather than reusing worn plates.
