Rebuilds the worn variable-vane oil pump on 2006-up GM 6L80 and 6L90 automatics with a new rotor, 13 vanes, slide, and seals to restore line pressure.
The 6L80 and 6L90 use a variable-displacement vane-type oil pump, and it is one of the first things to wear out on a high-mileage unit. The 13 vanes and the pivoting slide ride against the rotor and the pocket faces all day, and as they wear the pump loses its ability to build and hold line pressure. That shows up as a soft or slipping engagement when cold, delayed shifts, harsh or flaring shifts as it warms, and pressure-related codes. Rebuilding the pump is what separates a lasting 6L80 build from one that comes back.
This is the WIT (Whatever It Takes) 408288 pump repair kit, the complete rotor-and-vane set techs drop in when the pump is apart. It includes the rotor, all 13 vanes, the slide, the two pump rings, the rotor guide, the slide bumper, the Teflon pump slide ring, the Teflon sealing ring, and the pump O-ring, so the pumping elements and the seals that ride on them all go back new together rather than reusing a worn slide against fresh vanes.
It fits the 2006-and-up GM 6L80, 6L80E, 6L90, and 6L90E, which covers a huge run of trucks and cars: Silverado and Sierra 1500, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Escalade, Express and Savana vans, Camaro, CTS, and the Hummer H2. Any time you have the pump cover and stator off for a rebuild or a low-pressure diagnosis, plan on this kit; many of these pumps also want a new pump cover and stator, and this rotor set is the other half of that job. Inspect every seal and the flat O-ring as you unpack it, lube the vanes and slide on assembly, and set the pump on the bench so the vanes stay in their slots while you install. Ships from the USA.
