6T30 6T40 6T45 Transmission Shift Solenoid Set 7-Piece

This is a complete seven-piece solenoid set for the GM 6T30, 6T40, 6T45 and 6T50 six-speed front-wheel-drive automatics in their first-generation, or "old style," configuration. These are the transaxles under a huge slice of GM's 2008 to roughly 2013 lineup: the Chevy Cruze, Sonic, Malibu and Equinox, the Buick Verano, Encore, Regal and LaCrosse, and the GMC Terrain. The set covers the electrical actuators bolted to the valve body, the parts that actually command the shifts, so it is what you reach for when the transmission itself is mechanically sound but shifting has gone wrong.

The kit includes the variable pressure control solenoids (the tan-nosed units that meter line and clutch pressure), the on/off shift solenoids, and the torque converter clutch solenoid, seven pieces in total with fresh O-rings and inlet screens already on them. A stuck or drifting solenoid in one of these units is behind most of the complaints owners bring in: harsh or banging 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, slipping or flare between gears, no torque converter lockup with a surge or shudder on the highway, delayed engagement, and pressure-control or shift-solenoid performance codes that drop the transmission into limp mode.

On the bench the job is straightforward: drop the pan and filter, unbolt and lower the valve body, and swap the solenoids one location at a time so nothing ends up in the wrong bore, then reset adaptives after the repair. One caution that matters on these transaxles: GM revised the 6T40 family valve body partway through the run, so the early "old style" solenoids are not interchangeable with the later design.
