Swaps the factory plastic pan on the 850RE 8-speed for a finned cast-aluminum deep pan that holds 1.5 extra quarts and cuts fluid temps on Jeep and Ram.
Direct replacement deep pan for the Chrysler 850RE and 845RE eight-speed automatic (the ZF 8HP70/8HP76 family) found under 2014-and-up Jeep Wrangler JL, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, and Ram 1500. It bolts to the same flange as the stamped factory pan but is machined from cast aluminum with external cooling fins, so it pulls heat out of the fluid instead of trapping it the way the plastic OEM pan does.
The pan adds roughly 1.5 quarts of extra capacity, which lowers operating temperature and gives the fluid more time between passes through the cooler. Cooler fluid holds its film strength, and on trucks that tow or wheel that is the difference between a transmission that lives a long life and one that cooks its clutches. A 1/8 inch NPT bung is provided for a temperature probe so you can actually watch pan temp.
Service is the real payoff: instead of throwing away the whole filter-and-pan assembly every fluid change, the filter (PPE 228058700) is separate and replaceable, and the billet 304 stainless drain plug carries a neodymium magnet that grabs ferrous wear metal so it never recirculates. Note the pan ships without a gasket and reuses the factory pan bolts and metal sleeves, so transfer those over on install. The front cross member on Grand Cherokee bodies makes it a lift-and-patience job.
