Overhaul, friction and steel plate set for the Ford 8F35 eight-speed automatic in 2019-2023 Edge, Escape, Maverick, Corsair and Nautilus.
Master rebuild kit for the Ford 8F35 eight-speed transverse automatic, bundling the overhaul seal and gasket set, the friction clutch plates and the steel plates in one box (Transnation part numbers W280820B, B260880B and W260881B; cross references OEM JM5Z-7A098-A, 174002EP and D174004EP). It fits 2019-2023 Ford Edge, Escape and Maverick along with the Lincoln Corsair and Nautilus, front-wheel and all-wheel drive.
The set carries everything that wears against fluid on a teardown: paper and pan gaskets, rubber lip seals and O-rings, metal-clad seals, sealing rings, thrust washers, and a full run of friction and steel clutch plates. Hard parts, the valve body and the torque converter are not included, so inspect the pump, drums and solenoid body on their own and replace those separately if they are scored or heat-blued.
The 8F35 is known for a low-speed shudder, harsh 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, and clutch lining shedding into the fluid that plugs the filter and starves the valve body. Once you find friction dust in the pan there is no reusing the clutch packs, which is why the frictions and steels come together here rather than as single packs. Soak the new frictions in clean Mercon ULV for 20 minutes before assembly, air-check each pack, and set clearance with the correct selective before you close the drum. Flush the cooler and lines before the rebuilt unit goes back in so old debris does not take out the fresh clutches.
