Toyota/Lexus CVT Fluid FE, Aisin ATF-TFE, 6-Quart Case

Aisin ATF-TFE is the low-viscosity FE (fuel-economy) fluid Toyota specifies for its later belt-and-pulley CVTs, OE part 08886-02505, also sold on the shelf as Toyota CVT Fluid FE. Aisin is the transmission and fluid supplier that fills these units on the assembly line, so this is the same fluid under Aisin's own ATF-TFE label at a lower cost per quart than the Toyota bottle. This is a case of six one-quart bottles.

It covers a wide range of 2014-and-newer Toyota and Lexus models running the K310, K311, K312, and K313 series CVT: Corolla, Corolla Cross, C-HR, Prius c, the Scion iM and iQ, and the Lexus UX 200 among them. This is the FE grade only. Do not substitute the older Toyota CVT Fluid TC, a Type-WS geared-automatic fluid, or a universal CVT fluid, and confirm the fill specification called out on your dipstick or in the service manual before you pour.

A CVT has no torque-converter drain or full-flush procedure like a geared automatic, so a proper service is a drain-and-fill you repeat two or three times to exchange most of the old charge. Drop or drain the pan, pull and clean or replace the internal strainer, refill through the fill plug or dipstick tube, then bring the unit into the temperature window Toyota specifies and set the level off the overflow or hot check. Six quarts covers one thorough service on most of these units.

The low-viscosity FE fluid is what lets these transmissions hit their fuel-economy targets while holding the right pulley clamp pressure on the belt. As the fluid shears down and its friction modifiers age you get harsh engagement, judder, and slip that lead to a very expensive CVT replacement, so fresh FE-spec fluid on a regular interval is the cheapest insurance you can buy.
