This kit supplies the friction clutch plates for a full clutch-pack rebuild: part numbers 121100 (x6), 121104 (x9), 121108 (x6), and 121114 (x6), for 27 friction plates covering the units clutch packs.
These transmissions come apart when a clutch pack glazes or burns and the truck starts slipping under load, holding gears, or throwing a P0894 transmission component slipping code. Duramax owners who tow or tune see the C1 and C2 clutches wear first. When the unit is on the bench, the frictions are what you replace, not clean up; a burnt or glazed plate that goes back in is what brings the transmission back a second time.
This is a friction set only. On a proper rebuild you pair these new frictions with new steel plates, a fresh gasket and seal kit, and a filter, then set each clutch pack to the factory clearance before it goes back together. Build to the Allison clutch counts, check your clearances with new steels, and refill with a TES 295 or TES 468 approved fluid such as Castrol TranSynd.
