Allison switched these boxes from five forward speeds to six in the 2006 model year and changed the clutch pack layout and friction material when they did, so this 2006-and-up kit is the correct match for the six-speed trucks rather than the earlier five-speed.
The kit carries the wear parts you replace on a full teardown: the friction clutch plates and their matching steels for the C1 through C5 clutches, the bonded pistons and lip seals, the sealing rings, O-rings, and thrust washers, and the complete gasket set. That is enough to reface every clutch pack and reseal the unit on the bench, not just do a quick soft-parts refresh.
Reach for it when a high-mileage Allison starts slipping, hangs up on engagement, bangs the 1-2 or shifts harsh, or shudders through converter lockup from clutch material contaminating the fluid.
