Releases the 1/2-inch quick-connect on Ford transmission oil cooler lines so the line pops free without wrecking the fitting, including the deep 6.0 Powerstroke Torqshift lines.
Ford's 1/2-inch transmission cooler lines use a spring-lock quick-connect that grabs the steel line with an internal retaining ring. The plastic horseshoe tools from the parts store bottom out before they reach the ring on the deeper fittings, so you end up prying, bending the line, or unscrewing the whole quick-connect out of the radiator and buying a $35 replacement fitting. This is the tool that actually reaches the ring.
The AST 8023 slips over the 1/2-inch line, then you push it straight into the fitting to spread the retaining ring evenly instead of cocking it to one side. You feel and hear the click, the line pulls free, and the fitting is reusable. It is the extra-depth design the 6.0L Powerstroke diesel with the TorqShift (5R110W) needs, where the standard-depth tools simply will not work, and it fits the cooler lines at the transmission, the filter, and the radiator-mounted cooler on Super Duty F-250/F-350/F-450 trucks.
Machined from orange-anodized 7000-series aluminum with a retaining band so it stays on the line while you work, and it runs one-handed in tight spots. Model number 8023, made by Assenmacher Specialty Tools. Sold as the single 1/2-inch tool. Ships from the USA, handling in 1-2 business days.
