AW55-50SN Transmission Filter and Pan Gasket Kit 2004-2010

Service filter and pan gasket set for the Aisin AW55-50SN five-speed automatic and its badge variants: AW55-51SN, AF33-5, and the Nissan RE5F22A. This is the transverse (front-wheel-drive) unit found in Volvo S40/S60/S80/V50/V70/XC70/XC90, Saab 9-3/9-5, GM Equinox and Pontiac Torrent, Saturn Vue, and Nissan Altima/Maxima/Quest through the 2004 to 2010 range.

Contents are the internal transmission oil filter that mounts to the valve body and the reusable-fit pan gasket. Drop the pan, pull the old filter off its snout, seat the new filter until it clicks, lay the gasket dry, and torque the pan bolts in a crossing pattern to spec. Do a filter-and-fluid service on this unit every 30,000 to 45,000 miles — the AW55-50SN is sensitive to burnt or low fluid and will start flaring the 2-3 shift or dropping into limp mode when the filter loads up with clutch material.

Common failure this addresses: slipping, delayed engagement, and harsh or missing shifts caused by a clogged filter starving the pump. Replace the filter any time the pan comes off, and always refill with the correct JWS 3309 / AW-1 spec fluid.
