AX4N 4F50N Transmission Rebuild Kit, Ford 2004-Up

The AX4N, later badged the 4F50N, is Ford's electronically controlled 4-speed front-wheel-drive automatic that sat behind the 3.0L and 3.8L V6. This banner overhaul kit covers 2004-up units and carries the friction clutch plates, front overdrive band, bushings, filter, and the complete gasket and seal set needed to put a worn AX4N/4F50N back together.

These transmissions usually come apart because the clutches are cooked, not the hard parts. When one starts slipping or flaring on the 3-4 shift, shudders in overdrive, or weeps ATF at the pan and pump, the frictions and rubber are done. Tear the unit down, drop in the new clutch packs and front band, replace the bushings and filter, and reseal every joint with the supplied gaskets and lip seals before it goes back in the car.
