Presses reinforced steel seats into worn 1/4-inch check ball holes in GM 4L60E, 4L80E and 700R4 valve body separator plates so you skip buying a new plate.
When a check ball hole in a GM valve body separator plate wears oval or bellmouths out, the check ball no longer seats and that circuit leaks. You get soft or delayed shifts, a slipping apply, or a code chasing pressure that is bleeding off past a seat that will not seal. The factory fix is a whole new separator plate. This kit fixes the plate you already have.
Inside are five press-in steel seat inserts (Transmaxx Fitzall, part TMX348-5417) that restore the 1/4-inch check ball seats found on GM 700-R4, 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L70E and 4L80E valve body plates. Each insert gives the ball a fresh, sharp sealing surface and reinforces the hole so it holds up better than the original stamped seat. One kit repairs up to five holes.
On the bench it is straightforward: run a 1/4-inch drill bit through the worn hole to clean and true it, then press or drive the insert in flush with the plate face. Deburr, check the ball drops and seats clean, and reassemble the valve body. A shop that keeps these on the shelf saves the cost and the wait of a replacement plate on nearly every 4L60E and 4L80E that comes across the bench with a washed-out seat.
