Frictions, steels, and a full gasket and seal set to overhaul the Ford FMX 3-speed automatic in 1968-1981 Cougar, Montego, Cyclone, and LTD II.
The FMX is Ford's cast-iron 3-speed automatic built from 1968 to 1981, a development of the earlier MX and FX Cruise-O-Matic that runs a Simpson gearset with a front and rear band. This is the soft-parts overhaul package for it: the clutch frictions, the steel plates, and the complete gasket and seal set you need to put a torn-down FMX back together, without paying for hard parts you are reusing.
It fits the FMX behind Ford and Mercury cars from 1968 through 1981, including the Cougar, Cyclone, Montego, LTD II, Colony Park, and Falcon. In the box are the high-energy forward and reverse friction plates, the mating steel plates, the FMX overhaul gasket and seal kit (part reference DK600FS, gasket set 751), and the sealing rings and O-rings for the servos and pistons. It does not include hard parts, the pump, the valve body, or the torque converter.
On the bench, once the case is clean and you have checked the bushings and thrust washers, soak the new frictions in ATF, set clutch pack clearance with the supplied steels, roll fresh lip seals and sealing rings onto the servo and clutch pistons, then lay the new gaskets under the valve body and pan. This is the kit you reach for when a 40-plus-year-old FMX slips, drops a band, or weeps fluid from every gasket. Ships from the USA, handling in 1-2 business days.
