A727 TorqueFlite Master Rebuild Kit Mopar 1971-1993

This is a full soft-parts overhaul kit for the Chrysler/Dodge A727 TorqueFlite, the three-speed automatic also badged TF8 and later 36RH/37RH. It covers the 1971-1993 rear-wheel-drive A727 found behind small- and big-block V8s in Dodge and Plymouth trucks, vans, and B/E-body cars, as well as many Jeep and motorhome applications that ran the 727.

Open the box and you get everything that wears out on a teardown: high-energy friction clutch plates, the matching steel plates, the front (kickdown) band, the filter, front and rear case bushings, and the vacuum modulator. On the sealing side it includes all the paper gaskets, the pan gasket, rubber O-rings, rubber lip seals, metal-clad seals, and the sealing rings, so you are not chasing a leftover seal partway through the reassembly.

On the bench the flow is straightforward: strip the unit, clean and inspect the drums and pistons, then reline the clutch packs and set the band with the new frictions from this kit. Reseal the pump and case, drop in the new filter, and set the modulator. The high-energy frictions give the clutch packs more holding capacity than plain organic plates, which is what you want in a truck or a mild-performance 727 that slips or flares on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts.

Note this is a master soft-parts kit, not a hard-parts package. It does not include the drum, shafts, pump gears, or sprag. Confirm your A727 year and application before ordering, and reuse or replace hard parts based on your inspection.
