



Holds the engine up from above so you can drop a FWD transaxle or unbolt a subframe, 1100 lb capacity with two 38 in lift chains.
An engine support bar spans the fender rails and carries the weight of the engine from above, which is the only practical way to pull a front-wheel-drive transaxle without a lift. Once the chains take the load you can unbolt the driver-side mount, drop the subframe, and slide the transaxle out with a jack. The 24950 is rated at 1100 lb (500 kg), which covers essentially any passenger car or light truck powertrain.
The bar is a dual-steel-beam build measuring 59-1/4 in long by 9-3/4 in wide, with three channels along its length so the two threaded chain hooks can be set wherever the engine's lift eyes actually sit. The hook spread adjusts from 28-3/4 in to 58-1/4 in. Two 38 in chains are included. The support feet reposition along the beam and sit on anti-slip rubber pads so the bar does not walk across the fender lips while you are working underneath.
The threaded hook adjusters are the reason this style of bar beats a hoist for transmission work: you can raise or drop the engine a fraction of an inch at a time to line up bell housing dowels, or hold a slight nose-up angle so the transaxle clears the frame rail on the way out. The dual-beam construction is stiff enough to leave loaded for a multi-day rebuild rather than something you rush to unload.
Also useful in reverse. If you are pulling an engine for a rebuild and want to leave the transmission in the car, hang the transmission on this bar and the bell housing stays supported while the engine comes out.
