Oversized boost valve that replaces the worn factory valve in GM 4L80E and 4L85E valve bodies to restore line pressure and firm up shifts. Fits 1991-up.
The pressure regulator boost valve sits at the front of the 4L80E and 4L85E valve train and is what lets line pressure rise under throttle. The stock valve runs in a bare aluminum bore, and after enough miles that bore wears oval. Once it leaks, the pump can no longer hold commanded pressure, so you get low line pressure, soft or slipping shifts, a converter that will not lock cleanly, and eventually burnt clutches and bands from the slippage.
The Sonnax 34200-01K is the O-ring style replacement boost valve for that job. Instead of trying to seal against a worn bore, the valve carries an O-ring that does the sealing, so it drops into the existing bore without reaming or special tooling. It restores the correct pressure boost ratio and stops the internal leak, which brings line pressure and shift firmness back to where a healthy unit should be.
It fits 1991-up GM 4L80E and 4L85E units and installs in the same location as the factory boost valve, usually while the valve body or pump is on the bench during a rebuild or a pressure-related repair. If you are chasing low line pressure or a lazy, sliding 1-2 or 2-3 on one of these transmissions, the boost valve bore is one of the first places to look.
