47RE/47RH/48RE Flexplate for Dodge Cummins 5.9L 2500 3500

The flexplate is the steel disc that bolts to the back of the crankshaft and carries the ring gear the starter engages, while its outer face is where the torque converter bolts on. On the 47RH, 47RE, and 48RE automatics behind the 5.9L Cummins, the factory flexplate is a known weak point: the constant firing pulses of a diesel plus converter load crack the plate around the converter bolt holes or the center hub, and once it lets go you get a bad vibration, a grinding no-start, or a converter that walks off its bolts.

This is a one-piece steel replacement plate machined for that driveline. It fits 1994 through 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 5.9L Cummins and the 47RH, 47RE, or 48RE transmission, covering both the 12-valve and the 24-valve engines. The ring-gear tooth count and converter bolt pattern match the OEM plate, so it drops straight in against the crank and lines up with the stock torque converter and starter with no modification.

On the bench it installs like the original: bolt it to the crank flange with the raised hub facing the engine, torque the crank bolts in a star pattern to the factory spec with fresh thread locker, then draw the converter to the plate evenly so it seats flat. It is the part to have on hand any time the transmission is out for a rebuild, a converter swap, or a rear-main seal, since inspecting or replacing the flexplate while everything is apart is cheap insurance against pulling it all back down later.
