Heavy-duty steel flexplate that bolts the 5.9L Cummins crank to the torque converter on 47RE, 47RH, and 48RE automatics in 1994-2007 Dodge Ram 2500/3500.
A heavy-duty steel flexplate for the 5.9L Dodge Cummins backed by a 47RE, 47RH, or 48RE automatic. It bolts to the crankshaft and carries the ring gear the starter engages, then drives the torque converter through the converter bolt holes. Fits 1994-2007 Ram 2500 and 3500, covering both the 12-valve and 24-valve 5.9L engines.
The factory flexplate on these trucks is a known weak point once you add fueling, a heavier converter, or a loaded trailer behind it. The plate flexes and fatigue-cracks around the converter bolt circle and the crank bolt holes, and a cracked flexplate throws a rhythmic knock or rattle at idle before it finally lets go and strands the truck. This one is cut from thicker steel to stand up to diesel torque and converter load.
Replace it any time the transmission or converter is already out for service, or the moment you find hairline cracks radiating from the bolt holes. Bolt it to the crank with fresh ARP or OEM flexplate bolts, torque to spec, then mount the converter. Mounting hardware is not included. OEM equivalent part number SSI-DODG47/48RE-FP.
