TCI 896500 Transmission Cradle for Floor Jacks

This is a heavy steel cradle that drops into the saddle cup of an ordinary hydraulic floor jack and turns it into a transmission jack. Instead of buying a dedicated trans jack, you pull the round cup off your floor jack, seat the cradle shaft in the hole, and you have a wide, flat platform with raised lips on three sides to carry a transmission, transfer case, or gas tank while you work under the vehicle.

The tall center shaft measures about 1-3/16 inch (roughly 30mm) in diameter to fit the classic slip-in saddle cup found on older-style floor jacks. It works well on traditional two- and three-ton jacks with a removable cup about 1-1/4 inch across. Note that many newer jacks (including some import units) use a threaded saddle with a smaller hole; on those you may need to grind the thick powder coat off the shaft or run a different saddle to get a clean fit, which several techs do in a few minutes with 100-grit.

The wide plate gives you room to shim with a couple of 2x4 blocks to level an odd-shaped case, and there are holes in the sides so you can add eye bolts and a ratchet strap to keep the load from tipping while you roll it out.
