Full seal, gasket and sealing ring overhaul set for the Subaru TR580 Lineartronic CVT in 1.6L and 2.0L Impreza, Crosstrek, Forester and Outback.
This is a complete overhaul seal and gasket set for the Subaru TR580 Lineartronic CVT, reference part number T13502D. It contains the NAK rubber seals, paper and rubber gaskets, O-rings and sealing rings you replace when the unit is split open, so you are not chasing individual part numbers halfway through a teardown.
The TR580 is the smaller of the two Subaru chain CVTs and sits behind the 1.6L and 2.0L four cylinders. It shows up in the 2012 and up Impreza, the XV and Crosstrek, the 2011 and up Forester, and 2.0L Outback and Legacy variants. The larger TR690 used behind the 2.5L and turbo engines is a different case and does not share this seal set, so confirm the TR580 casting before ordering.
Typical reasons a TR580 gets opened up: a shudder on light throttle that fluid alone will not fix, a whine that tracks engine speed, a slip or flare on takeoff after the fluid has been cooked, or a leak past the case halves and the valve body cover. Any of those means the unit gets split, and once it is split the old seals go in the trash regardless of how they look. Chain CVTs run high line pressure, and a hardened O-ring on a clutch feed circuit will drop pressure to the pulleys and burn the belt you just paid for.
On the bench, install the sealing rings on the pulley shafts and clutch drums first, sizing each one before the drum goes back in, then work the case gaskets and cover O-rings last. Fill only with genuine Subaru CVTF or a fluid that meets that spec, and set pulley pressure learn values with a scan tool after the unit is back in the car.
