Drop-in shift correction kit for the Ford CD4E and Mazda LA4A-EL. Caps runaway line pressure, cures 1-2/2-3 flare and converter slip, and clears codes P1740 and P1744.
This is the Transgo SK CD4E-Jr shift kit for the Ford CD4E and Mazda LA4A-EL front-wheel-drive transaxle, found behind the 2.5L V6 in the Contour, Mystique, Cougar, and the 2001-2008 Escape, Tribute, and Mariner. It installs in the valve body during a rebuild or a stand-alone valve body service.
The CD4E fails in a predictable way: line pressure climbs out of control as the boost valve and bore wear, which spikes converter clutch apply, burns the planet, wears bushings, and throws codes P1740 and P1744. This kit re-references the pressure regulator and EPC circuit so line pressure stays where it belongs, firms the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts to kill the flare, and rebuilds the TCC/lockup boost valve so the converter applies clean instead of slipping.
Installation is on the bench: you drill the listed valve body passages to the sizes in the instructions (a 1/16 in bit is included; a #55 and a 3/32 in bit are also needed), swap in the supplied valves and springs, and add the servo spacer washer. Plan on new valve body, accumulator, and solenoid pack gaskets, which are not included. Ships from the USA, handling in 1-2 business days.
