Transgo PG-2S Powerglide Reprogramming Shift Kit 1963-73

The TransGo PG-2S is a reprogramming (shift correction) kit for the aluminum-case GM Powerglide, 1963 through 1973. It reworks the factory valve body calibration so the transmission holds line pressure and applies the clutch and band firmly instead of the soft, slow apply that a stock Powerglide gives under load. On a street/strip or full-race Powerglide that soft shift is what slips the clutch pack and cooks it, so tightening the apply is the difference between a pack that lives and one you are pulling apart every season.

The kit lets you set it up two ways: full manual control, where the trans stays in the gear you select and only shifts when you move the lever, or a firmer automatic 1-2 upshift for a street car. That makes it equally at home behind a bracket car that needs a hard, repeatable shift on the two-step and a hot-rod street build that just wants the shift to quit slurring. It installs in the car; you do not have to pull the transmission to do the valve body work.

In the box you get the calibration hardware and springs that go into the valve body and pump circuit. This is the aluminum Powerglide kit (PG-2S) covering 1963-73 cases; it is not for the older cast-iron Powerglide. Pair it with a fresh clutch pack, a good band, and a quality ATF when you build the unit and you end up with a two-speed that shifts hard and repeatable pass after pass.
