The TransGo SK 48RE valve body kit that firms the shifts, cures the busy 2-3-2 hunt and 2-3 flare, and raises line pressure on Dodge Ram 48RE 2003-2006.
The TransGo SK 48RE (part number SK 48RE) is a valve body reprogramming kit for the Chrysler 48RE four-speed automatic, the transmission that sits behind the 5.9L Cummins and 5.7L Hemi in 2003-2006 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks. Everything installs inside the valve body you already have, so you are recalibrating the unit in the truck rather than buying a replacement.
It targets the shift complaints these trucks are known for: soft, slipping shifts, the busy 2-3-2 hunt under light throttle, and 2-3 shift flare that shows up after a rebuild. The kit firms and cleans up those shifts and raises line pressure so the clutches and band hold more torque, which is what keeps a 48RE alive behind a diesel.
The job is done with the valve body off. Drop the pan and valve body, work through the TransGo instructions to swap in the supplied springs, valves and check balls and reset the pressures, then reinstall. Take photos as you disassemble so every check ball and spring goes back in the correct bore. Most of the work happens on the bench with the valve body in front of you.
Fits Dodge Ram 48RE, 2003-2006, diesel and gas. Comes with the recalibration parts and printed instructions.
