Recalibrates the GM 4L60E, 4L65E and 4L70E valve body to firm up 1-2 and 3-4 shifts and stop TCC shudder, installed in-car by dropping the pan.
The Transgo SK 4L60E is a shift-correction kit for the GM 4L60E, 4L65E and 4L70E automatic, 1993 and up. It re-calibrates the valve body and pressure regulator so the transmission shifts firmer and holds line pressure under load, which is what keeps the forward and 3-4 clutches from the slow, slipping shifts that burn them up.
It targets the failures these units are known for: soft or flaring 1-2 and 3-4 shifts, torque converter clutch (TCC) shudder and apply cycling, delayed reverse and drive engagement, and the P1870 component-slipping code that shows up when the 3-4 accumulator and TCC circuit wear out. The kit re-shims the pressure regulator and boost valve, replaces the affected checkballs and springs, and closes off the internal leaks that let line pressure bleed down.
Installation is done in the vehicle. You drop the pan and filter, work the valve body per the printed instructions, and reassemble - no need to pull the transmission or the converter. The kit includes the springs, checkballs, regulator and boost shims and step-by-step instructions for both a stock-feel and a firmer heavy-duty setup.
