Full friction clutch plate set for the Ford 10R80 and GM 10L80 10-speed, covering every clutch pack when you tear one down for slipping or flare.
Complete friction plate set for the Ford 10R80 and GM 10L80 ten-speed automatic, Transnation part number W188880D. It covers the friction plates for all six clutch packs in the unit, so you are not chasing individual packs when the case is already split on the bench. Common applications are the RWD 10R80 behind the 2017-up F-150, Mustang, Expedition and Ranger, and the 10L80 in Silverado, Sierra, Camaro and Tahoe.
These transmissions are known for burning the D clutch and for lining material shedding into the fluid and plugging the filter. Typical symptoms are a flare on the 4-5 or 6-7 shift, a shudder on light throttle lockup, and dark fluid with visible friction dust. Once you find debris in the pan there is no point reusing any of the packs, which is why this comes as a full set rather than a single-pack kit.
On the bench, soak the frictions in clean fluid for at least 20 minutes before assembly so the lining does not scuff on first apply. Air-check each pack after it goes together and set clearance to spec with the correct selective steel before you close the drum. Steels, seals and gaskets are not included in this kit, so plan on ordering those separately if the originals are heat-blued or scored.
