Ford AOD Transmission Master Rebuild Kit - Clutches, Steels & Seals

This is a full master rebuild kit for the Ford AOD (Automatic Overdrive), the RWD four-speed that Ford ran behind the 5.0L and 5.8L from the early 1980s through the mid-90s. A master kit is the level you want when the unit is coming apart on the bench: it bundles the overhaul gasket and seal set, the friction clutch plates, and the hardened steel plates so you are not chasing individual line items to finish the job. TRANSPEED factory codes for this set are T04902A + T049080A + T049081A.

Inside you get the seals, o-rings, and pan and pump gaskets from the overhaul kit, a complete set of friction clutch plates for the forward, direct, intermediate, and overdrive packs, and the matching steel separator plates. That covers the wear items that actually cause an AOD to slip, flare between shifts, or drop overdrive: glazed and burnt frictions, worn steels, and hardened seals that let apply pressure bleed off.

Fitment is the AOD in Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury RWD cars and trucks, including the Mustang 5.0L and the Lincoln Town Car 5.0L (1991-1997) as well as Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, F-150 and Bronco applications that used the AOD. This is the non-electronic AOD, not the later AODE or 4R70W. Confirm your transmission is a cable/TV-actuated AOD before ordering, and plan on a rebuild manual and the correct end-play checks during assembly.
