NP205 Transfer Case Bearing Seal Kit Ford Dodge 1970-1986

This is the bearing, gasket and seal rebuild kit for the New Process 205 transfer case, cast iron housing, remote mount, as used behind Ford and Dodge trucks from 1970 to 1986. USA Standard Gear part number ZTBK205RDF. The NP205 is a gear-driven case, so when it starts howling or dropping fluid the housing is almost always fine and the bearings and seals are what is worn out. This kit is what you need to put one back together right.

Order of work on the bench: drain the case, split the halves, and pull the front and rear output shaft bearings and the input bearing. Press the new bearings on, replace every seal at the input, front output and rear output, and set the case back up with the new gaskets. Do not reuse the old output shaft seals even if they look intact - they are the reason most rebuilt 205s leak on the driveway a week later. Check the shift rail o-ring seat while the case is open.

Note the fitment carefully before ordering. This is the Ford and Dodge remote-mount pattern, not the GM divorced or married pattern - the two use different bearing sets and the kits are not interchangeable. If your case bolts direct to a TH350 or SM465 you want the GM variant instead.
