Bearings, seals and gaskets to rebuild the chain-driven New Process 208 part-time transfer case in 1980s to early-90s GM, Ford and Dodge 4x4 trucks.
This is the USA Standard Gear ZTBK208 rebuild kit for the New Process 208 transfer case, the chain-driven part-time unit that sat behind the transmission in full-size 4x4 trucks and SUVs from the early 1980s into the early 1990s. You will find the NP208 under GM K-series pickups, the Blazer, Jimmy and Suburban, Dodge Ram trucks and the Ramcharger, and Ford F-series and Bronco of that era. Open this kit when you are going through a case that whines, leaks at the output seals, or has play in the shafts.
The kit covers the wear items you replace on a bearing job: the input, output and mainshaft bearings with their races, plus the case gaskets and the front and rear output shaft seals. When a chain-driven transfer case starts to howl on the highway or drips fluid onto the crossmember, it is almost always these bearings and seals, and doing them all at once while the case is split is the only way to put it back together and trust it.
On the bench, split the case, press the old bearings off the input and output shafts, drive the new races into the housings, and reseal with the supplied gaskets and output seals before you torque the halves back together. This is a bearing, gasket and seal kit; the drive chain, shift fork pads and any planetary or synchro parts are sold separately, so inspect the chain for stretch and the fork pads for wear while you are in there and add them if needed. Fits the NP208 and NP208C. Ships from the USA; handling in 1-2 business days.
