4L80E/4L85E Master Rebuild Kit with Raybestos Clutches

This is the soft-parts and friction package for rebuilding a 1996-up GM 4L80E or 4L85E, the heavy-duty four-speed behind big-block gas and diesel trucks, vans, and SUVs. It is assembled by Whatever It Takes Transmission Parts (WIT), a longtime transmission parts distributor, and the friction clutch pack module in it is Raybestos Powertrain, so you are not gambling on no-name clutch material for the units that see the most load.

The kit covers the full soft-parts rebuild: gaskets, rubber and lip seals, O-rings, sealing rings, and the complete Raybestos friction clutch pack. That is everything that wears out or hardens on a high-mileage 4L80E - the frictions that have glazed or burned, the seals that have gone brittle and started leaking pressure, and the rings that let apply circuits bleed down. When a 4L80E starts slipping in a gear, flaring on the shift, or dropping line pressure, these are the parts you replace on the bench.

Read this before you order: this is a master LESS STEELS kit, and it does not include the steel separator plates or a pan gasket. It is built for rebuilders who are reusing serviceable steels from the core - the standard practice when the existing steels are flat, unglazed, and not blued from heat. If your steels are discolored or warped, order new steels separately, and pick up a pan gasket for the reassembly. If you would rather have everything in one box, a full master kit with steels is the other route.
