Pressurizes the forward and direct clutch circuits on a Ford 6R140 drum to find cracks, porosity, and leaking sealing rings before final assembly.
Billet aluminum air check tool for the forward and direct clutch drum in the Ford 6R140 TorqShift, the six-speed automatic behind the 6.2L and 6.8L gas V8s and the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel in 2011-up F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty trucks.
On the bench you seat the tool in the drum, fit the included sealing rings, and feed regulated shop air into the forward and direct apply circuits. A good piston strokes and holds pressure; a circuit that bleeds off points you straight to a cracked drum, worn piston lip seals, or a porous casting before you close the unit up.
The 6R140 forward and direct drums are a known leak point, and a hairline crack or a failed seal you cannot see turns into a soft or slipping apply after the rebuild. Air checking the drum first is the difference between a transmission that stays together and one that comes back on the hook. Replacement sealing rings are included so the tool is ready to run.
