ZF 9HP48 948TE Master Rebuild Kit Jeep Cherokee Chrysler 200

This is the master kit for a full ZF 9HP48 rebuild. The 9HP48 is ZF's nine-speed transverse automatic for front- and all-wheel-drive vehicles; Chrysler and Fiat badge the same unit as the 948TE. When one of these gearboxes starts banging the 1-2 shift, hunting between gears at part throttle, flaring on the upshifts, or dropping into limp mode after a worn clutch pack, the frictions, steels and every soft part come out together. That is exactly what is in this box.

The kit ships as three sets: the overhaul kit (all gaskets, lip seals, sealing rings and the pan gasket), a complete friction clutch plate set, and the matching steel plate set. Soak the new frictions in the correct fluid before assembly, then stack them against the fresh steels so each clutch pack comes up to its proper clearance. The seals cover the pistons, the pump and the drum sealing rings that harden and start to leak with heat and miles. Fitment on the 9HP48 is tight, so measure clutch clearances and endplay as you build rather than assuming stack height.

Fitment covers the ZF 9HP48 / 948TE nine-speed: Jeep Cherokee KL 2014-up, Jeep Renegade, Chrysler 200 2015-2017, Fiat 500X, Ram ProMaster City, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport, and the ZF-based nine-speed used in Honda Pilot, Odyssey, Ridgeline and Acura MDX/TLX. Confirm your transmission is the 9HP48 (not the smaller 9HP28/9HP45 or a larger unit) before ordering; the nine-speed family shares a layout but not the plate stacks. Fluid is not included. The ZF nine-speed is fill-for-life sensitive and does not tolerate generic ATF: use ZF LifeGuardFluid 9 (Chrysler/Mopar 68218057AB) or the exact OE fluid your vehicle calls for, and set the level to the ZF fill procedure at temperature after the rebuild.
