P0741 / TCC shudder under light cruise. Most fixable in 45 min with the pan off. Try a Dexron VI flush FIRST - the TCC valves are friction-sensitive and 30% of P0741s resolve with fresh fluid. If shudder remains, replace the TCC PWM solenoid.

Step-by-Step
- 1STEP ZERO: Try a Dexron VI drain + fill first. The 4L60E TCC apply valve is friction-sensitive. Wrong fluid OR contaminated fluid causes shudder. ~$50 in fluid, 30 min - skip the rest if this works.
- 2If shudder persists, drain fluid + drop pan (see procedure above).
- 3Locate TCC PWM solenoid on the valve body - it's the LAST solenoid forward (closer to the converter side). 2-pin connector.
- 4Unplug TCC solenoid connector. Remove retaining clip with magnetic pickup.
- 5Pull solenoid straight out. Inspect valve body bore. If bore is scored, replace TCC apply valve as well (separate part).
- 6Lubricate new solenoid o-rings with assembly lube.
- 7Install new TCC PWM solenoid. Verify retaining clip seats fully.
- 8Reinstall connector. Verify click-in.
- 9Reinstall filter + pan + new gasket. Torque to 8 ft-lbs cross pattern.
- 10Refill with Dexron VI ONLY. Do not mix with Dexron III or any other ATF.
- 11Clear codes. Test drive at 45-65 MPH steady cruise. If shudder is gone, you fixed it.
If shudder remains after BOTH fluid flush AND solenoid replacement, internal issue - likely pump checkball, 2-4 servo seal, or worn TCC apply valve in the valve body. Master rebuild becomes the answer.
