09D Transmission Valve Body with Shift Solenoids

Remanufactured valve body and solenoid assembly for the 09D six-speed automatic (Aisin TR-60SN), the transmission behind the V6, V8 and V10 engines in the first-generation VW Touareg and the Audi Q7. Replaces OE casting number 09D325039A. The solenoid pack is already installed and calibrated on the body, so it goes in as one assembly instead of a bare casting you have to populate from the old unit.

Fitment covers VW Touareg 2002-2011 and Audi Q7 2005-2011 built with the 09D transmission. Confirm the three-letter transmission code on the case tag before ordering. The 09D is a heavy unit built for the Touareg/Q7 platform and is not interchangeable with the 09G or 09M front-drive bodies that share a similar name.

This is the repair for the failures that show up as the 09D racks up miles: harsh or banging 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, flare between gears, shudder under light throttle, delayed engagement into drive or reverse, and limp mode with solenoid and gear-ratio codes stored. The root cause is usually wear in the aluminum bores around the pressure regulator and clutch feed circuits plus a tired solenoid, and neither a fluid service nor swapping a single solenoid brings the pressure back once the bore is oval.

On the bench: drop the pan, pull the filter, unplug the internal harness at the solenoid connector, unbolt the old body and transfer the manual valve linkage. Torque the body bolts in sequence, fit a new pan gasket and filter, then fill through the level plug. The 09D is a sealed unit with no dipstick, so set the fluid level with the vehicle level and the fluid at the specified temperature, using the VW/Audi ATF called out for the 09D. Clear codes and drive it through a full adaptive relearn before judging shift quality. Units ship disassembled, cleaned, inspected and bench tested; light oil staining and cosmetic marks on the casting are normal for a remanufactured body.
