5EAT Transmission Solenoid Kit 8-Piece Subaru 31705AA430

This is the complete eight-piece solenoid set for the Subaru 5EAT five-speed automatic, sold under Subaru part number 31705-AA430. It covers the shift solenoids, the line pressure control solenoid, the lock-up (torque converter clutch) solenoid and the transfer clutch duty solenoid that all bolt to the valve body inside the pan. The units are remanufactured and electrically tested before they ship, and they plug straight into the factory internal harness - no wiring changes, no adapters.

Solenoids in this transmission usually fail electrically or stick from varnish, and the car tells you about it before it strands you: a hard 1-2 bang, a long delay when you drop it into Drive, engine flare between gears, the torque converter refusing to lock on the highway, or the TCM dropping the box into limp with a P0700 stored plus a pressure-control or shift-solenoid circuit code. A lot of shops chase a whole valve body on those symptoms when the solenoid pack is what actually failed. Replacing all eight at once is the sane call - they have the same mileage on them, and you only want to drop the pan once.

Bench work is straightforward. Drain the fluid and drop the pan, pull the filter, unplug the internal harness connectors from each solenoid, then unbolt the solenoids and their retaining brackets from the valve body. Transfer them one at a time so nothing ends up in the wrong bore, keep the bolts snug rather than gorilla-tight (they thread into aluminum), reseat the harness connectors until they click, then fit a new filter and pan gasket. Refill with the ATF specified for your year and model in the Subaru service manual and check level at operating temperature - overfilling a 5EAT will foam the fluid and give you the same shift complaint you just fixed.
