Audi 0B4 Left Axle Flange Play Repair Kit 0B4409294D

This kit services excessive play at the left drive flange, where the left axle shaft enters the transmission housing. It contains one bearing (0B4409294D), one pressure plate (0B4409175E) and three adjustment shims (0B4409227). Listed fitment is Audi A4 B8 8K 2008-2017, A5 8T/8F 2010-2017, A6 C7 4G 2011-2018, A7 4G 2011-2017, Q5 8R 2008-2017 and RS4 2013-2016.

When the left flange bearing wears, the flange moves in and out of the case. The symptoms are a clunk when coming on and off the throttle, a vibration or growl that changes with load, and fluid wetting the flange seal area because the seal cannot hold against a wobbling flange. Unbolt the axle and rock the flange by hand; any radial or in-out movement you can feel is too much.

With the car on a lift, unbolt the left axle from the flange and support it out of the way, then remove the flange retaining bolts and pull the flange and old bearing plate. Clean the bore, install the new bearing and pressure plate, and use the supplied shims to set the flange so it turns smoothly with no end play. Refit the flange with a new seal, torque the bolts to the Audi value, reinstall the axle and top up the fluid.
