Full-synthetic ATF+4 for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram automatics that call for ATF+4, ATF+3, or ATF+2; a case of six one-quart bottles for a pan-drop or flush service.
Castrol Transmax ATF+4 is a full-synthetic automatic transmission fluid that meets and is approved to the Chrysler ATF+4 (MS-9602) specification. It is backward compatible with the older Mopar ATF+3, ATF+2, and ATF+ (Type 7176) fluids, so one case covers just about every Chrysler-family automatic built from the late 1990s forward. This listing is a case of six one-quart bottles (192 total ounces), which is enough for a pan-drop-and-filter service on most units and a good start on a full flush.
Run this any time your Dodge, Jeep, Ram, or Chrysler service manual calls for ATF+4. That covers the 42RLE (Wrangler, Liberty, 300, Charger), the 45RFE and 545RFE (Grand Cherokee, Ram 1500, Durango, Dakota), the 65RFE, 66RFE, and 68RFE units behind the Hemi and Cummins trucks, and the older 41TE/A604 transaxles in the minivans and front-drive cars. Do not substitute a Dexron or Mercon fluid in these transmissions. ATF+4 has its own friction profile, and the wrong fluid is the usual cause of converter shudder, harsh 1-2 shifts, and slipping in RFE-family boxes.
Because it is a synthetic ATF+4, it holds its friction characteristics and viscosity far longer than a conventional fluid, which matters on the RFE units that are sensitive to fluid condition and heat. Use it for a simple drain-and-fill, a pan-drop filter change, or a machine flush. A typical pan drop returns three to four quarts; a full converter flush on a 68RFE can take most of this six-pack. Always set the final level with the transmission at operating temperature, following the factory fill procedure for your model.
